  1. I was happy to see that the meeting was civil for the most part. There was professional conduct and appropriate questions asked.....UNTIL....a particular citizen spoke during the comments portion of the meeting. I honestly try to keep this positive but quite frankly, I do not understand why this citizen feels the need to berate the Mayor and members of the police department the way he does. He has done nothing but cause trouble for the past 2 years. I respect his right to voice his concerns (in a professional-not accusatory way) but just wondering what he hopes to gain. Enlighten me, please! On a positive note.....the new well site is looking so much better and the tennis court area is seeing some improvement as well.

  2. Looks like to me that the golf course lost
about $32,384.00 This is a unexpended balance. I figured this from the Y-T-D unexpended balance. This did take me a little bit to figure because of the information that was handed out was for the total city.

  3. The meeting was civil with constructive debate among the council members. Too bad one of our "concerned citizens" also could not behave in an appropriate professional manner.
During comments from the floor this person - without warning- "Mr. Mayor on DD/MM/YYYY at XXhundred hours did you say in a phone call....(something that happened 3 years ago with the police department that is long over with)."
It was inappropriate! This went beyond a citizen's right to conduct his concerns during a meeting.
Voicing concerns is one thing - when a person is berating city employees for no other purpose than to cause trouble and embarass is another.

  4. The concerned citizen brought up something that happened April of this year and probably thought the mayor was not being honest. Also did the loss that was figured out include the 25,000 they borrowed from the light board, if not, the amount would be over 50,000.

  5. I don't know if the 25,000 loan from the light board was included in the latest figures.

  6. July 9th 5:44 am ( voicing concerns is one thing-when a person is berating city employees for no other purpose than to cause trouble and embarass is another) What do you call it when the Mayor hires the City Attorney to attack Benson ? I believe the tax payers paid for that one. Why is it the Mayor forgets the phone calls that He gets correcting his actions from the OMBUDSMAN that He says he never gets ?

  7. When is the Mayor going to start answering up instead of using Cindy and Kendra to do all his talking?

  8. Looks like cindy is grooming her self for Kevin or Norms council seat as soon as the Mayor gets rid of one of them.

  9. Just an FYI: Been there....done that! The Mayor does not ask me to do his talking. Quite frankly, I don't talk to the Mayor all that much. And no, I am not grooming myself for placement on the council but I am still a citizen and have an opinion, one that I think is shared by more than you know or are willing to accept.

  10. Brad Carstenson seems to have an opinion too. But you condem him for it. I think more people share it with him, than you would be willing to accept. Just because you think you know it all Doesen't mean you do. Brad can prove his statements with paper proof. The Mayor won't even answer the simplest question with out calling his lawyer

  11. 2:42 PM I just realize that I have lowered myself to your level. You are correct, everyone has an opinion. Some just express theirs with some level of decorum. Professional...you know, without blaming, threats, hints of retaliation, and calls to every state agency one could name. I never claimed to 'know it all' as you say but you know what.......neither does Brad.

  12. I think it is time you take a look at your friend the Mayor. The question that was asked of the Mayor at the last meeting had to do with reserve officer supervision which has to do with your son.. So is that why you don't like Brad? As for knowing it all I don't know if he does or not, But what he does know He has proof on paper for what claims He makes. The Mayor can't even man-up and answer questions with out telling lies or half-truths. Maybe you should call Brad up and ask to see some of his paper work instead of cutting hin down without even knowing. I don't know how you could even speak about someone without looking at what He has first. Maybe you should look and prove him wrong, That way a lot of questions would get answered. As far as threats and retaliation, I believe that is what people like you do when someone calls a state agency with what they believe is a wrongdoing. I think it is a persons constitional right to contact a state agency. As for the phone threats, assaults, and vandilism that Brad has incurred, He is not going away, It just makes him fight harder for fair and impartial goverment Again He has more support then you would believe.

  13. My opinions are my own and no one else's. I am not "friends", as you call it, with the Mayor. He and I have differences of opinion on occasion but that does not mean that I disrespect him. I believe there are usually 3 sides to a story....his, his and the truth. Quite frankly, I feel that I know a lot of what information that Brad has...and it is hard for me to consider what he thinks he knows given the tactics he has used. And remember, you are the one that brought Brad's name up in the blog. I wasn't going to go there. If Brad is receiving phone threats, vandalism or personal assaults.....that is certainly not something that should be condoned or tolerated.

On another note, my son took a lot of grief while Chris and Wayne were gone to Kosovo. I am thankful that they both came back safely after serving our country. And they came back to a police department still intact thanks in part to my son. He did a fine job given the circumstances he found himself in through no fault of his own. Let's call a truce and just agree that we may disagree.
